Château Barreyre (formerly known as Petit Trincard) was first identified in the parish registers in the 17th century, as confirmed by the engraved inscription “1646” found on a stone in one of the buildings, and the harmoniously curved stone well with its crest bearing the date 1737.
The vat room was built within older buildings, in 1924, as indicated by the date above the main entrance door. Straddling Langoiran and Capian, this estate covers 49 hectares of clay-silica soil on a limestone subsoil. Since 1995, the new owners have completely renovated the vineyard and cellars. A new wooden vat room was installed in 2000. An automated temperature control system has been installed, and 250 barrels are used for ageing. Château Barreyre’s wines regularly win awards in competitions and are cited in specialist guides. The Magnum d’Or, awarded in 2002, was awarded to the wine with the most medals from 1997 to 2001 in the Premières Côtes de Bordeaux appellation.
