The estate

In brief

Château du Vieux Moulin owes its name to a mill that for centuries turned in all winds on one of the highest hillsides of Loupiac. The vineyard extends over the south-facing slopes of Caillives, Rocher and Rondillon.
The estate belonged to the maternal family of Mme S. Perromat, the Cazeaux. Established in Loupiac before the 16th century, they were several times mayors from 1881 to 1929. The vineyard, enlarged by Dr Dauné, father of Mme Perromat and former president of the Loupiac union, has always remained in the same family in a direct line.
With an area of 16 hectares, planted with traditional grape varieties: Sémillon, Sauvignon and Muscadelle, Château du Vieux Moulin produces a much-appreciated sweet wine. Vinification is traditional, picking is by hand in successive sortings with five or six passes, fermentation is slow, and bottling is carried out after three years.
The wines of Château du Vieux Moulin are sold to the trade and to private customers.
