In 1729, under Louis XV, this property was already in the Rollet family. Since then, at château du Vieux Guinot, the Rollets have succeeded one another from father to son and today from father to daughter.
A blend of tradition and modernity, and with a concern for the quality of this wine and respect for the environment, a few principles are applied: maintaining the biological balance of the soils, controlled natural grass cover, sustainable pest management with their own weather station. In addition, disbudding, shoot thinning and leaf removal are some of the attentive care applied to the vineyard. The Rollet family is equipped with its own winery effluent treatment station, which further perfects its respect for the environment.
In the Saint-Émilion Grand Cru appellation, the family also owns châteaux Fourney, Gaillard de la Gorce and Roc Saint Michel, and in the Côtes de Castillon appellation, châteaux Grand Tertre, la Fourquerie and Beauséjour-Rollet.
Since the 2003 vintage, the property has vinified a new cuvée, Osage du château Vieux Guinot, which receives the most attentive care: low yields, harvest by hand, ageing in new oak barrels. Annual production is 10 barrels, if the quality of the vintage allows.
