Set due south on the gravel hillsides overlooking the right bank of the Garonne, Nénine, straddling Baurech and Tabanac, today occupies the site of the old farm buildings that in the 13th century belonged to the seigneury of the Black Prince. Its exceptional position had already attracted the Romans, as attested by remains found on the spot.
The high proportion of Cabernet Franc is a deliberate choice by the owner to produce fine and elegant wines, with a tannic and aromatic richness that finds its greatest expression after a few years of ageing.
Vinification is classic: total destemming, long vatting (20 to 25 days), temperature control with completion of malolactic fermentation before running off. Ageing is in barrels with rotation of half the crop, that is, the wine spends about 9 months in barrel, a quarter of which is renewed each year, with racking every 3 months. The blend is made 3 months before bottling in order to judge the qualitative development of the wines of each plot.
The S.C.E.A. also runs Château des Augustins.
