Monsieur Jacques Blanc (1342-1437) was an eminent jurat of Saint-Émilion. The local chronicle reports that he was very demanding when it came to the quality of wines. Six centuries later, his memory lives on through the name of this Saint-Émilion Grand Cru, in caring and competent hands.
Since 1982, all the agronomic means allowing the best dynamic expression of the soils have been employed to make the most of the château Jacques Blanc terroir. Only a “living” soil, thanks to ploughing and the permanent dynamics of humus, enriches the vine. It can then spontaneously offer the best of itself.
The healthy grapes, whose ripeness is early, allow a spontaneous, easy and regular fermentation with the vineyard’s indigenous yeasts, the only guarantors of the best expression of the terroir.
Vinification, controlled every day by temperature and by tasting, uses the extraction techniques that are most effective in terms of quality.
Barrel ageing, in perpetual evolution thanks to the choice of coopers, the period of filling the barrels, and the time and practices of ageing, allows our wines to reach better maturity.
This passionate pursuit of the natural gives the wines of Jacques Blanc a strong identity. Generally concentrated, they retain for a long time the suppleness and elegance of a lovely terroir at the foot of the slope.
Château Jacques Blanc always offers the expression of sincere quality, with respect for the consumer and for the terroir.
