Château les Hauts de Palette

Cadillac Côtes de Bordeaux • 130 HA

The estate

In brief

The Château Les Hauts de Palette vineyard lies partly at Béguey, on a small plateau away from the Garonne fogs, and partly on the hillsides of the commune of Cadillac.
The quality of its wines is due to the diversity of the terroirs, with, for the plateau, rock beneath a clay-limestone soil. For the hillsides, a clay subsoil with a soil of very high gravel density.
Already listed in the Féret edition of 1868, the château was built in the 17th century. Ranked at that time among the first crus of the commune, the property was created by the Soubiran family and then passed to the Gauthier family. It has been run by our family since 1972 and has been entirely restructured since its acquisition by Charles Yung in 1994.
This new estate was added to Château du Barail and Château Haut Mondain, acquired in 1962 by the Yung family on its return from Algeria. This family of winegrowers, already listed in the Féret of the wines of Algeria in 1886, has been able to pass on its know-how and passion across generations.
Under the ever-wise guidance of their father Charles, it is today Jean-Christophe and Rodolphe who follow the furrow. Jean-Christophe has run the estates since 1991, with the assistance of his wife, Cécile. Rodolphe, a chartered accountant, joined the governance in 2006.
In addition to Château Les Hauts de Palette, the spearhead of our vineyards, and Château Moulin de Tassin, the vineyards Charles Yung & Fils also run Châteaux Saintongey, Haut Mondain and Barail at Mourens, Châteaux Arnaud Jouan and Bourdon La Tour at Cadillac, and Château d’As at Cérons.
