The estate

In brief

Château Haute-Nauve has been well and truly listed in our editions since 1922. Located at the edge of the Bois des Combes, a relic of the forest of Cumbis whose clearing in the 1st century of our era gave birth to the village of Saint-Émilion, it is mentioned as a wine that “holds the attention and fixes the choice of the most delicate palates” and “has won the highest awards at the Brussels exhibitions (1910) and the Concours Général Agricole in Paris (1914)”.
During the 1930s, in the face of the crisis and difficult vintages, the Gironde saw the development of cooperative cellars, which allowed independent winegrowers to entrust their harvest for vinification and marketing. A phenomenon of society and solidarity that the Reynier family adopted, joining the Saint-Émilion cooperative created in 1932.
In 2009, Marie-Anne Reynier took back in hand part of the vinification of the harvest and handles direct sales. She decided to make the most of the richness of the terroirs and of the work accomplished in the vineyard. A new cellar was built for the vinification and ageing of the wines. A cellar large enough that, in 2014, the entire harvest of château Haute-Nauve was vinified at the property.
At Haute-Nauve, concern for the environment is not limited to the vineyard. The vines are of course farmed sustainably, and the growth has been a member of the GDON (Groupement de défense contre les organismes nuisibles) since 2007. The cellar has been fitted with photovoltaic panels to limit its carbon footprint, and a rainwater recovery system limits its consumption of drinking water and its discharges. The winegrowers have equipment that allows them to work seated and thus avoid the most common ailments of their profession.
It is in this family spirit, and by committing to certified approaches (ISO 14001), that Marie-Anne Reynier’s team wishes to restore to the property and its wines their former renown.
The Reynier family farms another vineyard in the commune of Sainte-Colombe in the Castillon Côtes de Bordeaux appellation, Les Tours de Haute-Nauve and Suggestion de Haute-Nauve.
