The estate

In brief

From cutting stone to making a great wine, there is only a step if one loves one’s trade. It is a matter of chiselling a material, drawing out its flaws, revealing its qualities, being passionate about one’s work.
In 1994, Michel Gracia inherited a little over a hectare of vines, located in Saint-Christophe-des-Bardes. A pioneer of ” garage ” wines, he went on to make one of those haute-couture cuvées that delight journalists and connoisseurs. The cellar is located intra muros in Saint-Émilion, in a thirteenth-century building.
Critics recognised his talent fairly quickly and the international press has highlighted the quality of his production since the 1997 vintage.
He acquired a second plot in Saint-Émilion. It doubled the size of his vineyard and gave birth to a cuvée: Les Angelots de Gracia.
Over the years, the style has asserted itself, the touch has become sure and the wines are all the better for it… The critics are enthusiastic. The winegrower’s other great quality is knowing how to pass on his craft.
His daughters, Marina and Caroline, hold oenology degrees and have come to work at his side.
Having learned from a good school, they add science to talent, and the concerns of our time to the winegrower’s know-how. After years of sustainable viticulture, Michel Gracia has taken the step to organic farming, and the estate may one day be run according to the precepts of biodynamics.
But that is another story…
For now, father and daughters make a precious and rare wine, a great Saint-Émilion.
