Château Goumin

The estate

In brief

Only a few hundred metres from that of Guibon, the château Goumin vineyard surrounds a pretty house and extends over three communes, two cantons and two arrondissements.
The centre of the estate, which lies in the canton of Branne, 35 km east of Bordeaux, in the commune of Dardenac, one of the smallest in France, also bears the name “Maison-Neuve”.
The total area is 20 hectares, almost entirely devoted to vines, with a slight predominance of red varieties, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon. The white varieties are Sémillon and Sauvignon.
Remarkably located on a hillside, facing due south, the vineyard benefits from a silica-clay and clay-limestone terroir producing dry white Entre-deux-Mers wines with suppleness, finesse and delicacy, but also pleasant, velvety red Bordeaux that can be drunk young or make excellent wines for keeping.
The origin of this vineyard is lost in the mists of time. A trace of it is found on the Belleyme map of 1770. It appears under this name in the 1908 edition of Bordeaux et ses vins.
André Lurton replanted much of it using the best-selected grape varieties, and its production has won various gold or silver medals at the Concours Général Agricole in Paris, for its Entre-deux-Mers and for its red Bordeaux.
