Planted with vines since the 18th century, Château German was the scene of important events during the French Revolution of 1789. The Girondin deputies Petion, Buzet and Barberoux, condemned by the revolutionary regime, found refuge at Château German, where they died on 8 Messidor of the year II defending Liberty.
Owned by Jean-Abel Faure until 2000, this cru now belongs to his daughter Bernadette, wife of Alain Aubert, and forms part of Les Vignobles Aubert.
Château German is located on the Castillonnais terrace adjoining the Saint-Émilion hillsides and benefits from the Castillon-Côtes de Bordeaux appellation.
Its terroir, composed of old gravel, siliceous pebbles and clay-gravel soils over a deposit of alios, gives the wines of Château German very particular fragrances that make for their originality.
Regularly awarded medals in various competitions, this château is part of the Domaines Alain Aubert, owners of Châteaux Hyot, de Ribebon, de Macard and Haut Gravet.
