Château Coustolle, dating from the 19th century, is located in the north of the Canon-Fronsac appellation.
It is surrounded by a beautiful park and stands in a magnificent panorama of vines, in the shape of a combe. The estate extends over nearly 23 hectares, planted mostly with Merlot (60%) on limestone hillsides and, in the combe, on molasse and deep sandstone.
The vines, with an average age of 35 years, produce a wine of a pretty, intense cherry-red colour that is maintained throughout its youth, with a nose of ripe, fresh fruit, a slightly spicy taste, and much richness, roundness and generosity; during ageing in casks, it acquires a garnet and tawny colour; the aromas and flavours blend on the palate in perfect harmony and elegance.
Châteaux Bourdieu La Valade (A.O.C. Fronsac) and Capet Begaud (A.O.C. Canon-Fronsac) form with Château Coustolle a single block of 45 ha belonging to M. and Mme Alain Roux and their children.
