In the heart of the prestigious Pomerol appellation, château Bourgneuf has belonged to the Vayron family since 1840. Xavier and Dominique Vayron raised Bourgneuf among the great wines of the appellation and today hand on to their daughter Frédérique this exceptional vineyard and their love of the terroir.
With an area of 9 hectares in a single block, the Bourgneuf vineyard is located on the Pomerol plateau, west of Trotanoy, on gravel-clay soils over a base of clay. This privileged position together with the nature of the soils gives Bourgneuf wine its complexity, finesse and elegance. The grapes, harvested at optimum ripeness, are vinified using gentle extraction methods in order to preserve the freshness of the fruit and the aromatic brilliance of the Merlot, giving Bourgneuf all its density and suave character.
Since 2009, Frédérique Vayron has been undertaking the gradual renewal of the vineyard. The old vines with their gnarled stocks are gradually giving way to younger plants, in keeping with the dynamic of a family and a terroir.
