The Château Bourdicotte vineyard, with an area of 100 hectares, is located on the limestone hillsides of Launay, one of the highest points in the Gironde. The 30 hectares devoted to the traditional white grape varieties of Bordeaux (Sauvignon, Muscadelle and Sémillon) give a white wine entitled to the Entre-deux-Mers or Bordeaux appellation. This cru is generally very full-bodied, dry and lively; it goes perfectly with hors-d’œuvres, seafood or fish. Moreover, the specialist press often singles it out for its excellent value for money.
The rest of the vineyard (70 ha) is planted with Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, which combine into a full-bodied red Bordeaux, vinified in a style that emphasises the aromatic side; it can therefore be enjoyed from its youth, under the brand Moulin de Pillardot.
The property also offers, in the Bordeaux Supérieur appellation, a special cuvée partially aged in oak casks and sold under the brand Bourdicotte.
Château Bourdicotte benefits from recently renovated technical facilities equipped with sophisticated machinery.
The two other brands distributed by SCEA Rolet-Jarbin come from the clay-loam land of Sauveterre, also organically farmed: the dry white wines are very fruity, expressive, rich and long on the palate, while the reds express themselves very well after two years’ ageing, with gourmand notes of sweet spices and black fruit such as blackcurrant and blackberry.
The You family, who invested in the Gironde in 2013, were won over by these two magnificent sites and decided to keep the whole production organically farmed.
