The La Mondotte vineyard, adjoining that of Château Troplong-Mondot, is located on the south-east plateau of Saint-Émilion. It is set on a clay-limestone soil that rests on a rocky subsoil.
Thanks to its marvellous exposure and the judicious choice of noble grape varieties with which it is planted, La Mondotte produces wines of perfect ripeness, distinguished by their body and mellowness, combined with great finesse and a remarkable bouquet. Since 1996, Château La Mondotte has disappeared; it is now simply called La Mondotte. In 1997, a vat room equipped with wooden vats and an ageing cellar were built on this vineyard.
This estate dates from the beginning of the 19th century and was acquired, at the same time as Canon-la-Gaffelière, by Count Joseph-Hubert von Neipperg.
