Château Fleur Cardinale is located in the north-east of the Saint-Émilion plateau, on one of the highest points, around 90 metres, and as a result enjoys maximum sunshine.
The property, on hillsides with red clay-limestone soils, respects the traditional grape varieties of the appellation. The average age of the vineyard is over 30 years, some plots dating from 1933, and its area is about 23.5 hectares.
The vineyard is managed using recent cultivation methods: natural grass cover, leaf removal, disbudding, drainage, decompaction, large leaf surfaces in order to obtain healthy grapes at optimum ripeness.
Vinification is carried out by the owner in vat rooms and a barrel cellar entirely rebuilt according to some of the most sophisticated ecological and technical criteria: neutral materials, a battery of 25 small-volume stainless steel vats allowing parcel-based vinification, gravity pumping over, ageing in new barrels.
Former owner of Porcelaines Haviland in Limoges, Dominique Decoster bought this superb estate in early 2001. Together with his wife Florence, they decided to settle there to devote themselves fully to Fleur Cardinale.
