Château Segue Longue Monnier

The estate

In brief

It was not until the 1970s that the vine returned to the gravel mounds of Jau-Dignac-et-Loirac. Château Segue Longue, located on the deepest plots (17 metres of gravel) and the best exposed of the hamlet of Dignac, was replanted in traditional rows, a rare practice for this area of the Médoc, over 18 hectares facing south-east and naturally drained.
The harmonious balance of grape varieties, combined with a rare choice of quality rootstocks (riparia gloire), the very traditional work and the ageing in barrels explain the growing renown of this vineyard, already the holder of numerous distinctions. Inaugurated in 1992, a brand-new, entirely circular cellar, allowing the vat room, barrel cellar and vines to be taken in at a single glance, was completed by an underground ageing cellar.
Production: 140,000 bottles a year, of which 10% are sold to private customers, 70% to large retailers and 20% for export.
Since 2008, the estate has been converted to organic production. The entire vineyard is cultivated and certified according to biodynamic methods.
