The estate

In brief

Château Lestruelle belongs to the Bouey family, originally from the Médoc, owners in Cussac at the beginning of the century and in the service of Bordeaux wine for three generations.
“To make good wines, you need fine grapes.” This aphorism is not a truism, but a near-daily reality for every good winegrower. At Lestruelle, constant effort is therefore devoted to improving the vineyard and its environment through the practice of sustainable viticulture. In addition, as at château Maison Blanche in Saint-Yzans, also owned by the Bouey family, the Lestruelle vineyard has a high proportion of Merlot. This choice of grape varieties, unusual in the Médoc, produces wines that are softer and silkier.
For making and ageing the wines, the château has a vast, modern and well-equipped vat room and a magnificent barrel cellar where the wines age for many months in oak casks of different origins.
Well known on French and foreign markets, château Lestruelle has won several medals at the Concours Général Agricole de Paris.
The wines of Lestruelle are supple and fleshy, with velvety, unaggressive tannins that make the wine pleasant to drink from its first years. Finesse and elegance are its assets, combined with aromas of red fruit (morello cherry, blackcurrant), spice and very fine oak.
