Château Bellevue de Tayac

Margaux

The estate

In brief

Château Bellevue de Tayac is located at the far north of the prestigious Margaux appellation, in the commune of Soussans, at the place known as “de Tayac”.
The vines are mostly planted on Labarde-type gravel, over a clay-limestone subsoil from the Upper Eocene. This gravel is particularly well suited to Merlot, which gives the greatest Margaux all their finesse and character.
Owned by the Saux family until 2004, the vineyard was entirely restored by Jean-Luc Thunevin, a well-known Saint-Émilion winegrower.
At the end of 2013, Domaines Fabre in Haut-Médoc, in association with GFV Saint-Vincent Bellevue de Tayac, bought the property. Its management and marketing are now handled by Vincent FABRE and his whole team, who have for many years operated various properties in the Haut-Médoc AOC, including château Lamothe-Cissac.
The soils are ploughed to encourage rooting and the vineyard is worked in the spirit of integrated farming. In the new contemporary cellar, each plot is vinified in small temperature-controlled stainless steel vats. The wines are aged for 12 to 18 months in high-quality French oak barrels.
Its wines, very well rated by the major French and international publications, have been recognised as Cru Bourgeois du Médoc since the 2010 vintage.
