The estate

In brief

The old Rabaud estate was brought as a marriage portion in 1660 by Marie Peyronne de Rabaud to Messire Arnaud de Cazeau, of a parliamentary family, and was kept by their descendants until 1819, when M. Pierre-Hubert de Cazeau, mayor of Bommes, sold it to M. Deymes. Acquired in 1864 by M. Henri Drouilhet de Sigalas senior, half of it was resold in December 1903 by M. Gaston Drouilhet de Sigalas to M. Adrien Promis, of an old family of Gironde winegrowers, hence the name Rabaud-Promis. In 1950 M. Raymond-Louis Lanneluc acquired the estate. It is currently managed by his grandchildren.
Château Rabaud-Promis, built by Louis, rises at the confluence of the Garonne and Ciron valleys, on a hill from which the eye takes in a panorama 50 kilometres wide. The château commands a white vineyard of 33 hectares, which on high ground has magnificent clay-gravel rises admirably exposed to the sun’s rays. The wines that come from it have body and richness, and acquire a marvellous finesse and aroma as they age; they are therefore increasingly appreciated.
