The estate

In brief

The Château Le Meynieu vineyard has a rich history dating back to the 18th century. It belonged to the Courréjoles family and produced around 45 barrels of wine that was among the best in the Médoc, mainly exported to northern Europe. In 1874, Château Le Meynieu belonged to Mr Bouquie, who was also mayor of Vertheuil. The vineyard was classified as a Cru Bourgeois, and its wines won medals at the Amsterdam and Le Havre wine fairs. During the first half of the last century, the vineyard had several successive owners, but the quality of the wines produced was maintained. However, in February 1956, winter frosts caused severe damage throughout the Bordeaux vineyards, and Meynieu was no exception. In 1962, Jacques Pedro took over the property from his parents-in-law and gradually began replanting the vines at Château Le Meynieu and restoring all the farm buildings.

In 1974, an underground bottle cellar was built, topped by a 467 m2 barrel cellar equipped with an air-conditioning system. In 2021, the Château Le Meynieu estates obtained High Environmental Value 3 certification for their environmentally-friendly cultivation and viticultural practices. The philosophy of this family-run estate is to produce authentic wines that reflect the expression of their terroir.
