Owned by the Counts of Arche since the 18th century, the estate fell into several pieces during the French Revolution, and it wasn’t until the mid-20th century that it was restored to its original 30 hectares. Château d’Arche is situated at the heart of a 50-hectare vineyard on the heights of the village of Sauternes. The vineyards are pruned exclusively by cots, the grapes are picked between 5 and 6 times a year, the yield is 15 hectolitres per hectare, and the wine is aged for 18 to 24 months in new oak barrels, making Château d’Arche one of the great traditional Sauternes wines.
