The Thomas family name has been associated with the Listrac vineyards since at least 1868. Château Reverdi first appeared in our editions in 1893. In 1908, we note: “the Reverdi estate comprises a 20-hectare vineyard located on the high gravel of Cussac and Lamarque and in the clay-limestone soils of Listrac…” Château Reverdi was acquired by Georges Thomas in 1953. In 1957, when the Listrac appellation was created, it became a Cru Bourgeois. Château l’Ermitage was created in 1953 by Roger Thomas, the great-uncle of the current owners, and became a Cru Bourgeois du Médoc in 1990. The Thomas vineyards thus comprise three wine châteaux, Reverdi and l’Ermitage in Listrac and Château Croix de Reverdi in Cussac. Christian Thomas took over from his father Georges in 1981, and his children Mathieu and Audrey now have the pleasure of running this fine estate.
The combination of know-how acquired over the decades and the latest techniques developed by the younger generation has produced wines that have been recognised by the best tasters and are a credit to their appellations.
Building on their experience in wine tourism, which was rewarded with a Best of Wine award in 2011, the Thomas vineyards offer enthusiasts new and fun wine-related workshops in addition to the traditional wine-tasting tour. Don’t hesitate to meet them: Mathieu and Audrey will give you a warm welcome to their family estate.
