The estate was re-created in 1987 from the farm buildings and a number of plots of land that had once belonged to Domaine des Gûnes, which in 1785 was listed as one of the best crus in the commune of Cissac. The estate was dismantled (economic crisis, war, etc.) and then reinvented by Philippe Tressol, then an adviser to the Chamber of Agriculture, who remained the owner until 2021. The 9 hectares of Château d’Osmond adjoin parcels of the finest vines in the neighbouring villages of Pauillac and St Estèphe. The vines, which have an average age of 35 years, are planted in narrow rows in the tradition of Médoc vineyards, and the soil is maintained and the plots protected with the greatest respect for the environment. At Château d’Osmond, before the traditional tasting session, visitors can learn about ampelography by discovering a collection of table and wine grape varieties. It’s a fun and friendly way to explore the château and the farm buildings, which have been renovated in recent years.
The estate is HVE 3 (High Environmental Value) certified, and has been in organic conversion since September 2021. Frédéric MORLIER, owner since 2021, passionately pursues the work undertaken, with the aim of optimising the quality of this cru.
