Éric and Philippe Gonfrier are builders. While assembling a large wine estate around Château de Marsan in Lestiac, the family property, they have since 1998 developed an activity as grape buyers and vinifiers.
Well established in the viticulture of their region, and familiar with all its subtleties and difficulties, they have brought together a team of winegrowers who own choice terroirs in the surrounding villages. Each can keep his land and farm it according to a clearly defined quality charter in the spirit of sustainable agriculture. Then, with a quality raw material in hand, they join forces each year to produce fine blends vinified in a remarkably well-equipped cellar. The wines, mostly red Premières Côtes de Bordeaux, are all aged in oak barrels before being sold.
Éric and Philippe Gonfrier step in as early as possible in the process. These “signed” wines are a guarantee of great quality.
Marquis de Bern is one of the wines produced by the Chais de Rions.
