The estate

In brief

The fine Château de Musset estate was acquired by Pierre Musset in 1887. The latter, a wine négociant in Libourne, was seeking to develop his business. Madame Jean-Marie Gardenne, the current owner, represents the fourth generation and her grandson, Marc Lecomte, the current manager, the sixth. An exclusively family estate, it has an exceptional architectural heritage (a vaulted cellar topped by an elegant colonnade; an 18th-century manor house and a view over the hillsides of Parsac and Saint Christophe des Bardes) and allows the combination of vine growing, the enhancement of one of the oldest growths of the region and a meeting place for a large family of more than 70 direct descendants.
The 12-ha estate comprises 7.5 ha of vines, a fine pond and harmonious terraces and gardens. The clay-limestone terroir produces rich and structured wines whose bouquet is characteristic of the wines of the Saint-Émilionnais, marked by fine Merlots and balanced Cabernet Francs.
In the vineyard, plantings follow one another regularly; the vat room is fully temperature-controlled, and regular maintenance of the equipment and buildings preserves an excellent production potential.
Since 2005, the estate has regularly won medals at the Bordeaux, Mâcon, Blaye/Bourg competitions and the Vinalies Nationales.
