Winegrowers for several generations on the prestigious terroirs of Lalande-de-Pomerol, Pomerol and Montagne-Saint-Émilion, the owners’ sole concern is to produce wines of great quality.
The vines are cultivated without chemical weedkillers, in keeping with traditional methods, and the grapes are harvested at optimal ripeness. The wines are vinified in optimal conditions, with temperature control, and benefit from a long maceration in order to obtain maximum concentration. Aged in oak casks, they are bottled on site.
Made from Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc, the wine of Domaine du Grand Ormeau is elegant, with a rich bouquet, fine and of a fairly deep colour. Sufficiently tannic, it evolves fairly quickly but can age for many years.
This family estate, passed from father to son for nearly two centuries, perpetuates the know-how and passion for its wines while incorporating modern techniques.
The vineyard today covers 18 hectares and also farms Vieux Château Goujon in the Montagne Saint-Émilion AOC and Château La Truffe in Pomerol, making a total of 22 hectares.
