Château Clos René is of very ancient origin. It is mentioned in 1764 under the name “Reney” on the map by the engineer-geographer Pierre de Belleyme.
This growth has belonged to the same family for several generations. Located on a sand-gravel soil with a subsoil based on iron residues, it has a precious terroir that is especially suited to growing quality vines. True to tradition, Jean-Marie Garde, grandson and successor of Pierre Lasserre, carries out meticulous vinification here and strives to integrate as fully as possible into the wines of this property all the flavours that the earth, the grape varieties and the sun have accumulated in the grapes.
Clos René, one of the best growths of Pomerol, is an authentic example of that great French wine which combines finesse and elegance with incomparable generosity and richness.
Numerous awards acknowledging its merits have been bestowed on it.
Forming part of the same estate, château Moulinet-Lasserre, covering about 5 hectares, produces a wine of the same quality.
S.C.E.A. Garde-Lasserre also farms château La Mission in the Lalande-de-Pomerol appellation.
