An estate located in Martillac in the Pessac-Léognan appellation area, Clos Marsalette belongs jointly to Count Stephan von Neipperg (Château Canon La Gaffelière, Saint-Émilion Premier Grand Cru Classé) and to M. Didier Miqueu.
The vine plots are magnificently located on the tops of two gravel rises surrounding a modern cellar. The best care is given to the vine: traditional grape varieties on low-yielding rootstocks, yield control, severe pruning, destemming at mid-véraison. Vinification is also traditional. The harvest is by hand and sorted in the vineyard, then sorted again in the cellar. Fermentation is carried out in temperature-controlled wooden and concrete vats (for the red) or stainless steel (for the white); ageing takes place in barrels, of which 50% are new.
The wines of Marsalette have this characteristic so sought after in the wines of Pessac-Léognan: freshness, finesse, balance and complexity for the whites, and fruit, finesse, balance and elegance for the reds.
