A very old estate, Château Laurensanne belonged to Guillaume Baisle, receiver at the Bordeaux accounting office. In 1808, the estate was bought by Jean-Baptiste Joseph de Belhot, who built a chapel adjoining the château.
Laurensanne reflects those old residences with the discreet charm of the bourgeoisie.
The château is surrounded by an estate of 40 hectares, of which more than 20 are devoted to vines. The rest of the property is made up of meadows, woods, warren and gardens.
The vineyard, admirably located on one of the highest points of the first line of hillsides of the Bourgeais, has a varied soil, clay-limestone or silica-clay, on a stony or clay base; it is planted with choice grape varieties: Cabernet, Malbec and Merlot. The wines of Château Laurensanne have been ranked for centuries among the best growths of the Bourgeais.
Adjoining Château Laurensanne, M. D. Levraud runs Château Tour de Collin, which produces on average 70 barrels, and, in the commune of Bourg, Château Noriou-Lalibarde, whose average production is 85 barrels. He also owns 11 hectares of vines located at La Libarde.
