Château Labesse has a quite special place in the Aubert vineyards, since it is the family cradle, the one from which everything began. Today Château Labesse houses more than two and a half centuries of family history.
Daniel Aubert inherited from his grandfather Joseph this property, acquired before the French Revolution. He also inherited Château Lagrave, located in the same commune. He passed them on to Léo, his son, who himself acquired Château Saint-Antoine. His only son, Étienne, continued the development of the vineyards, becoming owner of Châteaux Messile and Saint-Hubert. In 1941 he married Edith Robin, who brought him Château la Couspaude.
Edith and Étienne had three sons, Alain, Daniel and Jean-Claude. They consolidated the family group made up of the properties inherited from their parents and developed it further by acquiring Château Jean de Gué. Their children have joined them and continue today the family’s wine-growing story.
Labesse is thus a timeless wine, laden with the history of these men who knew how to cultivate, love and pass on their lands and passions to the following generations.
Château Labesse is regularly distinguished for its quality by international experts and the best tasting guides.
Les Vignobles Aubert thus run today Château Saint-Antoine and Château Toudenac in the commune of Saint-Antoine-du-Queyret (Bordeaux Supérieur), Château Labesse and Château Lagrave Aubert in the commune of Saint-Magne-de-Castillon (Castillon Côtes de Bordeaux), Château Jean de Gué in the commune of Lalande-de-Pomerol (Lalande-de-Pomerol), Château Messile Aubert in the commune of Montagne (Montagne-Saint-Émilion), Château Saint-Hubert in the commune of Saint-Pey-d’Armens (Saint-Émilion Grand Cru) and Château la Couspaude, Grand Cru Classé de Saint-Émilion, in the commune of Saint-Émilion.
