The origins of Château Haut-Bergey in Léognan go back to the 15th century.
It was the property of Messire Jean-François Cresse, counsellor at the Parlement of Bordeaux and president-treasurer of France at the Bureau des Finances of Guyenne in the 18th century.
The vineyard, after being abandoned at the end of the 19th century, was replanted in the 50s.
In 1991, with the arrival of Sylviane Garcin-Cathiard, the present owner, a new era began.
A vast renovation programme was set up with the clear objective of giving Château Haut-Bergey the place it deserves: creation of a vat room with 18 temperature-controlled vats, an air-conditioned barrel cellar, and administrative and reception premises worthy of its ambition.
Alongside this cutting-edge technology, Château Haut-Bergey has rediscovered traditions: hand harvesting, natural soil work and sustainable protection of the vineyard.
The pursuit of perfection, know-how and passion motivate the team at Château Haut-Bergey.
Les Vignobles Garcin bring together properties of great quality run by a family wholly invested in its passion for great wines: Clos l’Église in Pomerol, Château Branon in Pessac-Léognan and Château Barde-Haut in Saint-Émilion.
