The origin of this property goes back to 1757. Eleven generations of the same family have succeeded one another since to maintain the continuity of the vineyard, which currently extends over 30 hectares including Château Croute-Mallard. They thus prove the fidelity and love they bear for the vine, justifying the motto “per vitem, ad vitam” (through the vine, for life).
That says much about the jealous care devoted to perfecting this noble product of the vine, the ancient and eternal wine.
In the cellars, with a capacity of 4,500 hectolitres, at least four vintages age naturally. They are bottled after a long stay in oak casks, before delivery to a loyal clientele spread across France and abroad.
Located in the heart of one of the oldest vineyards in France, sung by Ausonius and Sidonius Apollinaris, Château Gros Moulin must always carry higher the seal that Charles VII granted to the town: “of a greater Bourg”.
Rémy Eymas, son of Jacques and Ghislaine, arrived on the property in 2011-2012. With his background as an agricultural and oenology engineer, a graduate of the École supérieure d’agriculture d’Angers, he represents the eleventh generation of winegrowers of the same family on the property.
