The estate

In brief

The origin of château de La Grenière goes back to the 17th century, and it has belonged to M. Dubreuil’s family for four generations.
The quality of its wines is due to its position on a very well exposed plateau and to the diversity of the soils: here heavy soils over a clay base, elsewhere light soils over a clay-limestone base or gravelly soils with traces of iron residues in the subsoil, more or less significant depending on the plot. Vine growing and vinification are still carried out in a traditional way, with adaptation of modern oenological methods.
With a skilfully dosed choice of grape varieties, this combination gives the wine of château de La Grenière a very particular stamp, very fruity, with a powerful body, sap, a fine colour and plenty of bouquet. It reaches great finesse with ageing, which can go up to 25 years.
Part is aged in one-third new oak casks and sold under the name Cuvée de la Chartreuse.
The various vintages have won, at the Bordeaux and Paris competitions, gold medals (2009 and 2011 vintages in Paris), silver (1997 and 2000 vintages in Bordeaux and 1999 vintage in Paris), and bronze (1997-98 and 2000 vintages in Paris).
