In the heart of a very pretty amphitheatre-shaped combe, Château La Grangère is admirably located at Saint Christophe des Bardes and surrounded by prestigious neighbours. It faces due south on the slopes and at the foot of the slopes. The grapes are harvested at phenolic ripeness. Vinifications are traditional, and ageing is in barrels over a period of about 18 months, giving rise to an expressive wine. The colour is purple and luminous. The bouquet opens on notes of blackcurrant, violet and candied prunes, enhanced by chocolate nuances. The palate is smooth, ample and elegant, supported by fine, silky tannins. Those with a sweet tooth will enjoy this wine in its youth and even more over the next ten years or so.
