The place name Grand-Abord, of very ancient origin, comes from a particular situation: in remote times, when the Garonne flowed past this property, boats and barges would make a “Grand Abordage” (great boarding) here.
The vineyard is located for the most part on the “upper” Portets, thus benefiting from a gravelly and stony soil, the stone of which was once quarried.
Its area is 26 hectares, of which 20 are in the Graves AOC.
The vines are managed by sustainable methods, a working method respectful of the environment and the consumer, thus guaranteeing a wine quality that is both organoleptic and sanitary, for the benefit of all.
The most attentive care is lavished on these wines during the two years preceding their bottling, one of which is spent in oak barrels.
The white wines are refined, fine and very pleasantly scented. They are particularly appreciated with shellfish and fish.
The wines of the Dugoua vineyards enjoy great favour. They are sold under the names Château Grand Abord, Château Bel Air and Château Lagarde.
Philippe and Marie-France Dugoua are the main players in the continuity of this family estate, which dates from 1720. They combine modernity and tradition, make the wines of Château Grand Abord known all over the world, and are proud to be the nth generation of this old Portets family to promote this vineyard.
