In a single block, with exclusive rights to the cadastral place name “Les Cruzelles”, the vines of this gravel-clay terroir lie one kilometre as the crow flies from the site of the old Church of Saint Jean de Pomerol, where the Durantou family also makes great fine wines. The north-south orientation of the rows, the planting density of 8,000 vines/ha with 3309C as the only rootstock, and the grape varieties perfectly suited to the terroir, Merlot 88% Cabernet Franc 12% from the best sanitary selection, make it possible to preserve the taste freshness of the grapes, favourable to aromatic expression and ageing capacity.
Château Les Cruzelles, vinified in a vat room adapted to parcel selection, is aged in an adjoining functional barrel cellar shared with the other wines produced by Denis Durantou, La Chenade and La Croix des Landes, in the Lalande de Pomerol appellation d’origine contrôlée. Tasted every year en primeur by opinion-formers from the wine world, Château Les Cruzelles is listed by the best distributors.
