A family wine estate, the vineyard of Château La Croix-de-Gay is located on one of the best-exposed parts of the prestigious Pomerol plateau, where the very first crus of the appellation are found.
It extends over 4.2 hectares of clay-gravel and sand-gravel soils, with iron residues at depth, which produce wines of very great class with a subtle and generous bouquet.
Chantal Lebreton succeeded her father at the head of the estate from the 1998 vintage and continues his work.
With a constant concern for quality, leaf removal, green harvesting and picking the grapes in small crates with sorting at the vat room are practised at Château La Croix-de-Gay. The wine is then aged for 18 months to 2 years in oak casks, 50% of them new each year.
Château La Croix-de-Gay has been a member of the Union des Grands Crus since 1981.
