The estate

In brief

The Capet-Guillier estate, which was part of the “Maison noble et Seigneurie de Capet”, belonging to the Comtesse de Guerchy, née d’Harcourt, and her brother the Marquis de Beuvron, was acquired in 1763 by the Taillade family, already owners of Château Lassègue. At the end of the 18th century, the Taillades then owned the whole line of hillsides in the commune of Saint-Hippolyte. At the division, which took place on 4 Frimaire of the year XII among the four children, the present Capet-Guillier estate was separated from that of Lassègue and fell to the eldest son, ancestor of the Charmolüe and then Guillier families.
After M. Guillier, senator for the Dordogne, who owned it for fifty years, his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren have been keen to maintain the traditions while keeping pace with technical progress. In 2009, the estate was sold to the Maison Antoine Moueix, which continues the work of quality and the promotion of the château’s wines and the Capet Guillier and Tour de Capet brands.
The vineyard of 15 hectares, located on the south-facing slope of the chain of hillsides, is planted with the best grape varieties. It produces 60 tonneaux of a warm cru with a particularly pleasant bouquet, capable of improving with the years. Châteaux Capet-Guillier and Tour de Capet, both Saint-Émilion Grand Cru, are among the best crus of Saint-Émilion
