Located on a hillside on one of the best clay-limestone and silica-clay terroirs of the Saint-Émilion appellation, the Château Cantin vineyard is planted with noble grape varieties: Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc.
While the first planting of the vineyard goes back to the Middle Ages, the very fine group of buildings that adorns the estate dates from the 17th century and was built by Benedictine monks to serve as a summer residence for the canons of Saint-Émilion, then as a monastery until the French Revolution.
The château, always dedicated to the cultivation of the vine, has undergone numerous improvements enabling it today to house a modern gravity-fed vat room and vast cellars.
Very special care is given to the management of the vineyard and to vinification. The grapes, harvested by hand and then sorted, undergo a long maceration, ensuring a perfect extraction of aromas and colouring matter. Traditional Bordeaux vinification precedes 12 months of barrel ageing, a period during which the wine acquires all its complexity.
The wine of Château Cantin is recognised for its remarkable finesse and exceptional structure.
