The estate

In brief

Château Brondelle existed at the beginning of the 19th century. Part of the château apparently belonged in the 15th century to the seigneury of the Château de Roquetaillade.
Our 1893 edition mentions the Brondelle estate: at that time it produced 2 tonneaux of white wine and 4 tonneaux of red wine.
In 1827, the Brondelle estate belonged to the Turtaut family. Later, by marriage, Château Brondelle was brought to Denise and Roland Belloc, an old Bazas family descended in direct line from the Sauvages (1694), pioneers of the Sauternes vineyard.
Château Brondelle is located 2 kilometres from Langon. Its vines are planted on a magnificent gravel rise, bordered to the south and west by the Ruisseau des Tuileries, a tributary of the Brion.
The new momentum of the vineyard dates from 1968, when almost all the vines were replanted in red and white.
Since 1985, the younger generation of the Belloc family has undertaken to bring out the exceptional potential of this terroir, with a will to excellence.
This pursuit of quality has resulted in numerous awards, in both white Graves and red Graves.
In 2008, the diversification of the vineyard led to the purchase of Château Fontaine, located on a gravel soil (clay subsoil) ideal for obtaining great Sauternes.
From 2009 to 2012, the creation of a cru in the Pessac-Léognan AOC, Château d’Alix, mobilised all the passion and energy needed to carry out this great project.
