Château Bellisle Mondotte

Enclosed in a park full of romantic, old-fashioned charm, Château Bellisle Mondotte is an imposing residence with adjoining farm buildings (cellar and vat room).
It overlooks the hillsides to the east of Saint-Émilion which, at this spot, form a sort of enchanted amphitheatre, a magnificent green setting topped here and there by a bell tower, large houses or châteaux, below which various vineyards are tiered.
Small in size, Bellisle Mondotte is a grand cru: its vines, planted with choice grape varieties on a clay-limestone soil, spread from the top of a very steep hillside, therefore well drained, and constantly flooded with sunshine. This privileged situation and the attentive care it receives explain the constant quality of its wines: green harvesting, leaf removal, respect for the terroir and its environment in order to preserve the exceptional quality of the grapes. The estate has been converting to organic farming since 2011.
As with his property in Pomerol, Château Bellegrave, or that of Grand Pey Lescours in Saint-Sulpice-de-Faleyrens, also belonging to the Escure family, Jean-Marie Bouldy conducts cultivation and vinification with great mastery, in order to obtain expressive wines that tell us the story of a terroir and its winegrower.
Moreover, since 1996, moving up a level in the selection and sorting of the harvest and in the method of vinification, Jean-Marie Boudy, in agreement with the Escure family, has equipped the estate with a barrel cellar. The wines are thus aged entirely in barrels, 30% of which are new, for a period varying from 20 to 22 months depending on the potential and quality of the vintage.
Today the wines of Bellisle Mondotte stand out for their body and their ample, generous volume. Balanced and harmonious, they appeal not only to informed enthusiasts who prize opulent and fine wines, but also to négociants and wine merchants specialising in top-quality wines for their refined, gourmet restaurant clientele.
