The château La Commanderie vineyard was replanted in 1850 by Curé Bon. It lies at the crossroads of Château Cheval Blanc and Figeac. The terroir of château La Commanderie is an extension of the gravel terraces of Pomerol. They mingle with ancient ferruginous sands that give the wine a very refined complexity. The vines enjoy a southern exposure.
The cellars are in the heart of the vineyard and allow very high-quality work. They comprise a temperature-controlled concrete vat room and two entirely renovated barrel cellars.
Château La Commanderie is cultivated, vinified and aged with the greatest care. For some years, it has been judged among the best growths of the appellation and was awarded Grand Cru Classé status in September 2012.
Château La Commanderie is all elegance: a fine purple colour with garnet highlights, pretty black fruit aromas, a full, round and fleshy palate, very well balanced. The long, fresh finish ends on fruit.
