Grand Cru Classé
Saint-Émilion Grand Cru • 1.4 HA

The estate

In brief

Perched on top of the clay-limestone plateau of Saint-Émilion, right next to the church of Saint Martin de Mazerat, Clos Saint Martin has a very particular history; the former presbytery of the said church, Clos Saint Martin was, until 1850, the small vineyard of the parish priest … a communion wine!
Bought in 1850 by the Malen family, already owners of château Côté de Baleau and château les Grandes Murailles, it is today represented by Sophie Fourcade-Reiffers, a descendant of the same family.
An enclave of 1.33 ha between four Premiers Grands Crus Classés, its magnificent clay-limestone terroir, its exceptional south-west exposure and its grape varieties are conducive to making very great wines. A “confidential” wine par excellence, Clos Saint Martin is a wine for the initiated that stands out for both great power and remarkable minerality: it is a wine for long ageing.
