Château les Grandes Murailles

Saint-Émilion Grand Cru • 2 HA

The estate

In brief

Located in the village of Saint-Émilion itself, this estate of only 2 hectares extends at the foot of the famous “grande muraille”, the remains of a magnificent 12th-century Benedictine convent, which over time has become the emblem of Saint-Émilion.
Its vineyard, at the centre of the famous clay-limestone plateau, is composed exclusively of Merlot, planted at a density of about 9,000 vines per hectare. A cellar and a vat room receive the harvest in the quarries beneath the vineyard, where the constant temperature throughout the year favours ageing of high quality.
The wines of Château Les Grandes Murailles stand out for their elegance, great complexity and remarkable minerality, guarantees of long keeping.
Having belonged to the same family since 1643, Château Les Grandes Murailles has just been acquired by the Cuvelier family, already owners of Clos Fourtet and Château Poujeaux.
