This vineyard was detached from the prestigious Figeac property in 1876 and acquired in 1923 by M. G. Belivier, who passed it on to M. Lucien Giraud in 1972. Today, M. André Giraud runs the family property.
Château la Tour-du-Pin-Figeac Giraud-Belivier extends over 11 hectares, in the north-west of the appellation, on the road from Pomerol to Saint-Émilion, on a gravelly, silica-clay soil with a ferruginous subsoil. It is planted with fine grape varieties in the proportion of 75% Merlot and 25% Cabernet Franc. After perfect ripening, the harvest is picked by hand. A maceration of 3 to 4 weeks, depending on the year, is then carried out in order to extract the maximum of tannins. Fermentations take place in traditional vats, with ageing in oak casks for 2/3 and in cement vats for 1/3, with a 3-month rotation corresponding to the rackings. A blend of the vintage is made before bottling.
Château la Tour-du-Pin-Figeac Giraud-Belivier produces around 57,000 bottles of a full-bodied wine with a rich bouquet and very great finesse. It is sold through the major négociants as well as to a private clientele at the château and by mail order.
M. André Giraud also runs Domaine du Vieux Manoir in the A.O.C. Lalande-de-Pomerol and Château Le Caillou in the A.O.C. Pomerol.
