At the beginning of the 17th century, Messire de Ségur had a château built about a league from the Garonne, on a height called the île d’Arès, where the first vines were planted at the same time. This building bears the name château Ségur, its owner exercising High Justice over his jurisdiction, as was customary before 1789. Château Ségur was passed down to his descendants until the Revolution.
On 12 Vendémiaire Year IV of the Republic (4 October 1795), the property was sold at auction by the District of Bordeaux. Subsequently, various owners succeeded one another and the property experienced various vicissitudes.
It was acquired in 1959 by S.C.A. Ch. Ségur. Joseph Grazioli, its manager, replanted, renovated the buildings and built a cellar. Today, it is his son Jean-Pierre who presides over the destiny of the property, the whole harvest of which is sold directly. The wines of château Ségur and château Ségur Fillau seduce with their ample and distinguished structure.
