A fine omen for the future: from the Middle Ages, Terre de Poujeaux was a lordship dependent on Latour Saint-Mambert, the future Château Latour. During the 19th century, the estate produced its first wines and gained its true independence.
Prosperity, successions and fragmentation marked the first half of the 20th century, until the Theil family had the good idea of taking an interest in the property. Jean Theil worked to reunite the estate and build its reputation. Château Poujeaux became prized by connoisseurs; Georges Pompidou was fond of it and served it at the Élysée!
His descendants inherited his attachment to the estate and perpetuate the Poujeaux spirit.
In 2008, Philippe Cuvelier and his son Matthieu (already the happy owners of Château Clos Fourtet, Premier Grand Cru Classé of Saint-Émilion) took the destiny of this fine cru of Moulis-en-Médoc in hand.
While remaining in continuity, they are breathing new energy and a great deal of ambition into the property.
They surround themselves with the best and invest effectively in the production facilities to quickly obtain significant progress and raise Poujeaux to the top.
