Château Romer

Sauternes • 6.5 HA

The estate

In brief

Château Romer, part of the commune of Fargues, is located close to the famous vineyards of Château de Malle and Château Bastor-Lamontagne.
This estate with gravelly soil, as the fine grape varieties of the great Sauternes wines require, was formerly the property of the Comte de La Mire-Mory, and later of the Comte de Beaurepaire-Louvagny. Since 1911 it has belonged to the Farges family, who took the greatest care in maintaining this vineyard, to improve the production and quality of its wines, classified as Second Growths of Sauternes in 1855, which won a diploma of honour at the 1931 International Exhibition in Paris and a silver medal in 1934 in Lyon.
Following a period of tenant farming, the property was taken back by Anne Farges, who takes the greatest care in maintaining this small vineyard.
