The estate

In brief

This vineyard bears the name Bernadotte in homage to Germaine Bernadotte, who married Jouandou du Pouey in the year 1615. Their son Jean kept the name Bernadotte. He was the ancestor of Marshal Bernadotte, who was named Sovereign Prince by Napoleon and then elected by the Swedish people to succeed King Charles XIII. The present Château Bernadotte is a charming residence built in 1860 and renovated in 1989. Bought by Monsieur Eklund, a Swedish industrialist, in 1973, it was also once owned by Château Pichon Longueville Comtesse de Lalande. Then Roederer, having bought the latter, decided in turn to part with it.
It has now been a year since King Power Group (HK) began doing everything possible to perpetuate the efforts undertaken by the various owners over the past sixteen years.
The ambition is to restore the standing of the Bernadotte terroir and of its charming residence dating from 1860.
It is with the 2013 vintage that the new team lays the first stone of the edifice in order to raise the Château Bernadotte brand to the rank it deserves.
Produced on gravelly ground, the wines of Château Bernadotte have a solid tannic structure; they are rich in colour, elegant and charming, fine and full-bodied. Like the Crus Classés of the Médoc, the wines of Château Bernadotte come from terroirs that are sufficiently vast and varied to allow rigorous selection, a guarantee of irreproachable quality.
