The estate

In brief

In 1986, M. Claude Compagnet left the cooperative to vinify château Le Pey. The property then covered 30 ha.
Over the years, the vineyard grew through inheritance, restructuring and the purchase of new land, rising to 43 ha.
Claude’s three sons would join their father in the family vineyard: Olivier in 1992, then Pierre in 1995, and finally Hervé arrived at the property in 2002. Three quite distinct skill sets were thus brought together in the service of the vine and the wine. 1998 saw the creation of château Grand Bertin de Saint Clair, located in the commune of Bégadan, relaunched by Olivier Compagnet and Pascal Coyault.
In 2000, the family spirit came into play again with the takeover of Château Moulin de Cassy by Pierre and Olivier Compagnet. That same year, a S.A.R.L. was created in order to market the wines on the Place de Bordeaux and to direct customers.
As can be seen, this extremely dynamic and talented family business is keen to continue with ardour the fine tradition of the winegrower’s craft.
Their latest vintage to be bottled is a fine illustration. The wine is opulent and generous, with fine tannic intensity, over aromas of roasting and ripe fruit.
